Pounds of Food Distributed Since 2020

The Well Center is our bold next step to creating a permanent space where children, parents, and communities grow stronger together.

Our Initiatives

Early Learning Center

We have been commissioned with $2.9 million in public funding from the Maryland Assembly and Montgomery County to help meet the critical need in Upcounty for quality early child education and care. We are excited to partner with KidsCo Jr. who will be managing the Early Learning Center.

Food Distribution

We provide culturally appropriate fresh produce, staple foods, and resources. Since 2020, we have rescued and distributed over 5 million pounds of food, including fresh produce, dairy, and meat, through large-scale “Grab-And-Go” food distributions, smaller community partner events, and the Montgomery County Summer Meals program.

Entrepreneurship: SEED Network

Connecting entrepreneurs with the relationships, resources, and support they need to build thriving businesses and drive economic growth in their communities and is a transformable force for the entire county. We are creating an economic identity and changing the face of the economy.

Tax Preparation Assistance

Every year during tax season, we run a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program and assist low-income clients with maximizing their refund through free tax preparation assistance.

Well Family Supports

Family Supports at The Well Center provide holistic coordinated, strengths-based services that meet families where they are and help them navigate challenges through personalized case management, mental health support, advocacy and breastfeeding support for working parents. Using a “no wrong door” approach, we connect families to the resources they need to build stability, resilience, and long-term well-being.

Programs for Youth and College Students

We are cultivating Calmer Schools with Trauma-Informed Care and Mental Health Support for students at Gaithersburg High School. If you are interested in learning more, email ben@cross-community.org.

We help connect the community to job opportunities, including ESOL classes and healthcare certificate scholarships.

We believe lasting change happens when families have access to opportunity, not just services.
