Our mission is to advance human dignity, equity, and flourishing in Montgomery County.
Our story
Since 2020, The Equity Center at Cross Community has been a trusted anchor for families across Montgomery County—walking alongside our neighbors to meet urgent needs while building pathways to long-term stability. What began as a response to crisis quickly became something deeper: a community rooted in trust, dignity, and opportunity.
Over the past several years, through Cross Community, we have served hundreds of families each month, distributed millions of pounds of food, and built meaningful relationships with those too often left out of traditional systems. But as we listened, learned, and grew alongside the community, one truth became clear:
Meeting immediate needs is not enough.
Families deserve more than temporary support—they deserve lasting opportunity.
Our Expansion: The Well Center
The Well Center is the next chapter of that story.
Opening in 2026, The Well Center represents an evolution from service delivery to sustainable transformation. It is a place designed not just to respond to need, but to address its root causes—bringing together early childhood education, economic opportunity, and community connection under one roof.
At the heart of this expansion is a pioneering two-generation model—one that recognizes that children and their caregivers succeed together. When children have access to high-quality early learning and parents have pathways to build income, careers, or businesses, entire families—and communities—thrive.
Why “The Well”?
A well is a place of gathering, renewal, and life. It is where people come to be refreshed and sustained.
The Well Center embodies that vision.
It is a space where individuals and families can access resources, build skills, and find support—while also being seen, valued, and connected. It represents both continuity and growth: an extension of the foundation laid by The Equity Center and a deeper investment in the future of our community.
“creating a more just and gentle world.”
